Madison Attorney Peter McKeever points to a revolving door between the Attorney General's office and the law firm representing Scott Walker's campaign in the John Doe probe.
Same law firm - - Michael Best & Friedrich - - that also provided free representation to Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, and also supplied the confidential but taxpayer-paid mapping and drafting expertise to legislative Republicans.

You're short-selling this one, James. I called the connection between Taffora leaving the DOJ and going to Michael Best over 6 months ago, when the J-S showed that Taffora signed the agreement between Michael Best and the state to give Michael Best a no-bid, 6-figure contract to represent Walker during the collective bargaining cases.
At the very least, Taffora needs to recuse himself from any discussions involving Michael Best and the John Doe investigation, due to his inside information, and I think this warrants a serious open records request from the DOJ between their meeting with Chisholm, and Taffora leaving in January for MBF.

Jim, you know that Viet Dinh and Rick Esenberg forbid you from referring to MB&F's representation as "free," even though Gableman never had to pay for it and -- if Gableman's claims that he'd researched the Mitchell case and agonized over approving the teevee ad are to be believed -- never had a chance of even trying to be able to pay for.
I believe we are free to use the word free.
