Kudos To Journal Sentinel For Comment Shield

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has begun implementing a fresh approach to displaying comments beneath online stories: Instead of racist and otherwise offensive drivel from anonymous comments being more or less in your face automatically, you now have to click on a comment line to see them - - if you so choose.

Hoo-rah!

Progress, but requiring real names, like they do on letters to the editor, would be best.

Cowardice has become a defining characteristic of American politics. Too many people lack the guts to put their names to their opinions. All those hit-job political ads paid for by secret funders are the worse. To think they're championed as paragons of Free Speech when they're really the sewer rats of democracy. They scurry into the shadows because they fear the sunlight.

Sounds like Mr. Eisen was referring to OWN, unless I am mistaken.
