Wisconsin Looking Backwards On Energy, Rail Transit

The Journal Sentinel's Tom Content writes about Wisconsin's slothful position on cleaner energy. Utility companies and politicians have agreed that we're to be more heavily-dependent on dirty coal while obstructing better options.

No vision. No concern for public health.  It's infuriating and tragic.

We see the same pattern regarding transit. The Walker administration and its allies in the Legislature, and conservative advocacy organizations have blocked or killed three rail systems - - expanded Amtrak, the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter train and Milwaukee's modern streetcar projects.

All these projects would remove some traffic from the roads and hydrocarbons from the air, andbetter connect cities.

But, again - - old habits and petroleum-based industries are served while public health is disregarded and common resources - - in this case, cleaner air - - are ignored.

What business or young entrepreneur or mobile family looking for vibrant environment would choose to locate here?
