Don & Anita Nelson, Nels Nelson & Sarah Lloyd and

Bridget Holcomb, Margaret Krome, Melissa Malott, Jennifer Nelson, Pam Porter, and Scott Schultz Invite you to:

Tom Barrett- - Leadership for Healthy Food, Sustainable Agriculture & Rural Communities

Agriculture is the backbone of our Wisconsin economy. Our dairies contribute billions of dollars per year to our state, along with meat, cranberry, potato, and vegetable producers. In addition, Wisconsin leads the nation in organics and the rich and diverse direct market local food economy, which is quickly growing through farmers markets and CSAs.

Despite our history of strong, independent family farms and rural communities, concentration in agriculture– at the farm, processing, distribution, and retail levels, and often aided by government initiatives – threatens our healthy farming future. Monopolizing resources and externalizing costs undercuts agricultural markets, threatening the viability of our family farms and the safety and health of our food system and natural resources.

Tom Barrett supports a healthy future for Wisconsin agriculture and rural life; please join us in supporting Tom Barrett for governor and to discuss sustainable agriculture in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin State Director for Rural Development at USDA, Stan Gruszynski, will join us. We’ll talk about the future of family farming, sustainable agriculture, and rural communities.
