Elderly Farmer In Oak Creek Will Not Lose His Land

This ugly story has had a happy ending, as the City of Oak Creek decides not to use its power of eminent domain to throw a 94-year-old farmer off his land.

WisPark, the development arm of WE Energy, had eyed the property for an office park, but everyone has backed down because public opinion was running in favor of the farmer.

I saw the farmer on TV. A real salt-of-the-earth gentleman who said he just wanted to be left alone.

To work his land, as he does daily.

Watching the issue develop was enough to turn me into a tea partier.

Enough said.

I can't but help noticing that WisPark is involved, as it was in the original Pabst Farms development - - another piece of open space that fell to the bulldozer, with public financing reserved for blighted or otherwise underutilized property.
