Walker, Neumann Oppose The Stimulus - - And You Know The Rest Of The Headline...
Mark Neumann takes the money - - to help operate a school he founded.
Scott Walker takes the money - - for County projects.
So government is a punching bag, but also a money bag.
Actually, these contradictions are just an extension of what is fundamentally off-center about this particular brand of conservative.
They oppose government spending, but want a well-paying government job and paycheck.
And as the state's top office holder, would hand out many big jobs and paychecks to friends and allies - - all presumably opponents of big government and state spending.
And would, presumably, go to work everyday in their government-paid offices and stay busy spending taxpayer money while cutting the government.
Right?
Wrong.
Look no further than the 14-year Tommy Thompson administration/SpendFest. A Republican, and party icon, Thompson added 10,000 state employees to the payroll and ran up the transportation fund deficit by the billions - - and, through his successor, Scott McCallum, left the state's general operating budget also billions in the hole.
Are today's Republican would-be leaders any different?
If they are out there attacking federal stimulus spending - - and also taking the money - - obviously not.
