Kurt Vonnegut, R.I.P.

One of the country's greatest modern novelists and public citizens has died at age 84.

The next time you want to read a good book, pick up one of his.

Also keep in mind that Kurt was so discouraged and disillusioned at the state of civilization and the lack of true character amonst so many of his fellow human beings that he announced that he had given up all hope of some sort of magical "getting better".

He also said -

"We have people in this country who are richer than whole countries,” he says. “They run everything.

We have no Democratic Party. It’s financed by the same millionaires and billionaires as the Republicans.

So we have no representatives in Washington. Working people have no leverage whatsoever."

So thanks for the suggestion - I'll keep Kurt on my mind at all times. I hope your readers do the same. Or, were you being a bit more selective perhaps in your Kurt-esque admiration? Vonnegut's a tough one to spin you know...

Great comment. And yes, that was a stright recommendation. Never to late to re-read those books you got assigned in college.
