Waukesha Mayor Wants More Information About Diversion Plan

Waukesha's new Mayor, Jeff Scrima, has asked the water utility to highlight changes made by city and water utility officials to the Lake Michigan diversion plan submitted to state water regulators.

The diversion plan, without the later changes, was approved by the Common Council.

He's also asking for a fuller accounting of water utility consulting spending: - - an issue raised on this blog and also at a Waukesha Common Council meeting in March when an accounting of water policy and diversion consulting was requested.

Clearly the struggle for authority over city government and water policy in Waukesha is continuing, with the new Mayor, who has raised questions about the Lake Michigan diversion effort, on one side, and the city attorney, city administrator, aldermen and the water utility, with its consultants, on the other.

I think this power struggle will go one of two ways:

The Mayor, because he won the election, will be able to lead and govern, with other city officials deferring to him.

Or they will form a united front and obstruct him until the next election in four years.

At this point, it's too soon to tell.

Jim,
surprised to see you in bed with the Tea Party. I guess it's true that "my enemy's enemy is my friend". Wonder what your lefty friends feel about that?
