Milwaukee County Official Wants Waukesha Booted Off Rail Line

Here's an idea:

Czarnezki Proposes Second Milwaukee Area High-Speed Rail Station Elimination of Waukesha County Station

A second station for the planned Milwaukee-to-Madison high-speed rail connection should be placed in western Milwaukee County, according to Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki.

"A second station should be placed in western Milwaukee County near the Milwaukee County Research Park and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s proposed engineering campus, to provide business and university travelers easy access to high-speed rail service to Madison,” Czarnezki said.

Having two Milwaukee area stations – one downtown and a second on the Westside – would provide greater access to high-speed rail for Milwaukee area businesses and residents.

Czarnezki also suggested eliminating one or both of the proposed Waukesha County stations.

“Waukesha County officials are on record as opposed to high-speed rail, apparently because they believe their constituents would not use it, so there is no reason to spend tax dollars to construct two stations in Waukesha County,” Czarnezki said.

Makes sense to me. If Waukesha wants out of light rail and a regional transit authority, then their isolationist wishes should be honored.
