Another News Story Comment Opportunity Brings Out The Racists

Read through the comments and then tell me what's up with people around here?

I don't see any use in offering anonymous readers the chance to spew their venom underneath a news story on the paper's website.

Under an opinionated column, maybe.

But with news, why?

You can't behave this way in the Letters to the Editor columns.

And don't talk to me about censorship. I'm not talking about government muzzling of free speech. I'm talking about a corporate policy at a private-sector company that needs some rethinking.

Hat tip to the person who brought this to my attention this afternoon. That person keeps his/her anonymity.

Caucasians can't say anything about race without being called a racist. Race is still a taboo subject. You all have seen when a caucasian (of any ethnicity) gets into a racial discussion and argues against something that affects a minority group, such as tightening border security or enforcing immigration law, they are labeled a racist. They aren't considered someone who values national security, but as a white supremicist. This double standard is resented and people get bitter.
