Milwaukee Water Works Explains Corrected New Berlin Water Sale Fiscal Data

The Milwaukee City Clerk has posted on the Common Council's online file an explanation for, and corrections to, an earlier error in Milwaukee Water Works' estimates of revenue is said it would receive from New Berlin through the water sale deal the Council approved last week.

The corrected number is about 30% less.

Questions were first raised about the estimated revenue calculations by Gretchen Schuldt in the comment section of a posting on this blog.

The initial first-year revenue estimate was $966,000; the corrected figure of $683,000 appeared in an amended fiscal report to the Council, and in a water works document in the Council file that had been corrected without explanation.

I had suggested to the Clerk and the Water Works last week that the file record online to be complete should include an explanation of why the initial calculation was not accurate.

All that is now rolled into the corrected report filed by the Water Works and posted by the clerk's office, above.

Thanks to all who took care of this.
