When self-quarantine could lead to self-improvement

A few thoughts on access to health care, making the best use of social distancing and Ron Johnson's potential self-quarantine - - which sounds like a good idea - -

- - if he cares about the health of his colleagues, constituents and the entire US Capitol workforce.
Senator Ron Johnson is meeting with doctors about whether or not he will need to self-quarantine following a meeting with a Spanish official who has since tested positive for coronavirus.
It was just yesterday that Johnson, senior apologist for all things Trump, said "the press' (anachronism sighting!) was paying too much attention to coronavirus deaths without focusing on the bright side:
“Right now all people are hearing about are the deaths. I’m sure the deaths are horrific, but the flip side of this is the vast majority of people who get coronavirus do survive.”
We've seen Johnson's cold, selfish I've-got-mine-so-screw-you calculus at work before,  before, whether labeling Obamacare the worst assault on freedom he'd seen in his lifetime (so worse than 9/11!), or lauding business failures as the upside of capitalism's immutable "creative destruction" law, or reminding college students that they have no right to food, medical care of housing.

So if Johnson self-quarantines, as it appears he should, let's hope he uses his time wisely - - if Isaac Newton could do it, so can our Senator - - to shuck off his inveterate callousness and develop a warmer, healthier spirit.
