Recession Arrives On Milwaukee's East Side

A slowdown in construction at the $417 million Columbia St. Mary's hospital isn't good news for construction workers, and I'd assume also for the Whole Foods store that is already open in part of the complex.

Remember, they were all hell-bent on getting the thing up and running since the development was supposed to have paid for itself from cost savings alone.
That argument is out the window. The construction companies and workers are taking the hit. An unfinished building of any sort is always a wasting asset + depreciates itself and its neighborhood very rapidly.

I am worried about the store closings on Downer Ave., too.
