ND oil pipeline spill should wake up US and WI

Just what the courageous protestors in North Dakota have been warning us about:
Pipeline spills 176,000 gallons of crude into creek about 150 miles from Dakota Access protest camp
The leak was contained within hours of the its discovery, Wendy Owen, a spokeswoman for Casper, Wyoming-based True Cos., which operates the Belle Fourche pipeline, told CNBC.
It's not yet clear why electronic monitoring equipment didn't detect the leak, Owen told the Asssociated Press.
And it's why Wisconsin's pipeline fighters and groups like Madison350.org want you understand that it could happen here:
Most people have heard of the Keystone XL pipeline and the threat it would have posed to the climate and the environment. Much less well known is the fact that the world’s largest pipeline carries toxic tar sands oil right through Wisconsin, including Dane County.
350 Madison invites you to join the fight against tar sands expansion in Wisconsin!
Enbridge, a $42 billion Canadian company, wants to expand its pipeline network throughout the Midwest to transport tar sands from the Canadian boreal forests to the Gulf Coast, likely for export. With aggressive campaigns on the East and West Coasts opposing export plans, Enbridge is seeking to make the Midwest a tar sands freeway to get the oil south.
Enbridge Line 61 travels through Wisconsin from Superior to Delavan (click here for map), then crosses the Illinois state line and continues south to refineries. Enbridge is currently tripling the capacity of Line 61 from the original 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.2 million barrels per day—45% more than the Keystone XL would have carried.
And Enbridge’s plans don’t stop with Line 61. Initial work is under way to “twin” Line 61creating a new Line 66 in the same corridor that would carry an additional 800,000 bpd.  With Line 61 and new Line 66 at full capacity, 2 million barrels of tar sands oil would flow through Wisconsin each day.
Not surprisingly, Enbridge is a partner in the Dakota Access Pipe Line - -  and remember the Enbridge pipeline spill in Michigan's Kalamazoo River, which took years and billions of dollars to fix?

  1. See?!?!?! It's WORKING! This pipeline may have happened, but it wasn't in Wisconsin! Isn't that something we can all thank Scott Walker for?

But then again, he says he is just doin' what God has ordained him to do, so I guess there is no reason to thank anyone after all.
