Road Expansion In Wisconsin Paved With Double Standards

Fair play and equal protection do not guide planning and spending for Wisconsin highway projects.

*  The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, no doubt with the full support of GOP legislators, wants to ram an expensive and noxious eight-lanes of elevated concrete in the face of Milwaukee's Story Hill neighborhood, over its long-stated objection...

*  While the same clutch of GOP legislators, citing the primacy of local control, wants to give other neighborhoods the right to reject WisDOT-funded traffic round-abouts...

*  Plus - - WisDOT just stopped a plan to expand a rural Racine County highway after neighbors objected.

Some neighborhoods' wishes for local control are more equal than others.
