Even before Wisconsin's fascism-friendly GOP Senator Ron Johnson
joined an unprecedented and unconstitutional effort to steal the Presidential election for Trump-the-clear-loser - and who further trampled on his oath of office and home state constituents before a national TV audience Sunday with a whacked-out defense of the plot, surely you've been asking out loud:
Who are the Wisconsin constituents he could ask for another term with a straight face and fingers uncrossed?
We know Johnson isn't looking to voters in Wisconsin's two biggest cities and their suburbs because those are the very people whose 2020 votes he's scheming to cancel.
But why would rural Wisconsin back such an all-in enabler of Trump-the-Tariff-Man?
The implementation of tariffs has cost Wisconsinites $1.3 billion in additional taxes, and there has been little movement to indicate that President Trump’s trade war brought back the economic revival that was promised.
In fact, the trade war has cost some Wisconsin farmers their livelihoods..... leaving many of the struggling small-to-mid-sized farms in need. This is especially concerning given in 2019 alone Wisconsin lost 818 mainly family-owned and operated farms.
And statewide - what exactly would be his case for six more years on the public payroll at $3,300 a week when he voted repeatedly against one-time $600 checks to provide minimal assistance to citizens across COVID19-slammed Wisconsin?
* After having pushed through a so-called tax reform measure in 2017 which provided relative crumbs to everyday Wisconsinites but which reportedly gave himself a big, tailor-made tax break.
So is his case for a third term based what he's done as chair of the US Senate Homeland Security and Oversight Committee?
Seriously" After this on his watch:
* Massive Russian hacking. Again.
* The kidnapping of immigrant children en masse and the caging of many others at the southern border by taxpayer-financed Federal agencies which fall under his committee's jurisdiction.
* While also having waste the committee's time on weird, blatantly partisan, science-killing agendas and 'hearings' while the pandemic his party and President underplayed is now in its 12th month of literally killing homeland security.
Senator Ron Johnson, Republican of Wisconsin, spent much of this year promoting investigations into Hunter Biden, trying fruitlessly to show corruption on the part of Joseph R. Biden Jr.
Now Mr. Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, is more focused on another narrative sympathetic to President Trump.... So on [12/4/20] for not the first time, Mr. Johnson lent his committee’s platform to the promotion of unproven drugs and dubious claims about stemming the spread of the coronavirus while giving prominence to a vaccine
* And back to broken promises: how does elevating fealty to a President while undermining the 2020 Presidential election comport with Johnson's pledge to honor the Constitution after winning that second term?
Here's a reminder from his his own office, in his own words:
WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) was sworn in Tuesday for his second term as a United States senator for Wisconsin. Alongside his wife, Jane, and their three children, Johnson took the oath of office administered by Vice President Joe Biden.
Sen. Johnson said this afterward:
"Today, I took an oath for the second time to support and defend the U.S. Constitution. I am honored to represent Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate, and I will do everything I can to strengthen this incredible experiment in human liberty, the United States of America.”
Johnson enriched himself during two 6-year terms in office while squandering a fortune in taxpayer dollars as thousands of his constituents have in the pandemic lost their jobs, homes, health and lives.
If he can't be expelled from the Senate, then voters in Wisconsin must ensure that Johnson cannot serve a single second of a third-term.
The rural GOP where I live would vote for a fish if it had an R after its name....that's how they all get elected.
ReplyDeleteJohnson should be arrested for treason along with his co-conspirators in the Senate and the House and spend the rest of his natural life in a federal SuperMax facility with other enemies of the United States.
ReplyDeleteA worthy successor to "Tail Gunner" Joe...must be the water in the Fox Valley.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other two comments here. Also, Ron Johnson is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteStill has never explained his sudden cancellation of July 4th activities in order to heed a request from Putin to fly to Moscow.
ReplyDeleteDon't leave out the problems at USPS. Johnson's committee has oversight of this, and USPS having massive delays at Oak Creek, along with losing a whole lot of ballots in October. Johnson notoriously covered up and deflected for GOP hack Louis DeJoy's disastrous leadership
ReplyDeleteThat's bad for business, and really bad for a lot of people who (still) depend on USPS for everyday goods and services.
