Don't be fooled by the regularly updated NY Times COVID-19 published data base that shows zero new cases and deaths in Wisconsin over the weekend, as a state health department systems' upgrade has caused a reporting delay which ends Tuesday, the agency said.
For an accurate picture of the pandemic while the system is being tweaked, DHS officials suggested monitoring the seven-day averages on its website instead of daily positivity rates....The pause in reporting comes as coronavirus cases continued to soar across Wisconsin. On Friday, the state posted another record with 3,861 new cases.
On Friday, 10/16, the average for the prior seven days was 3,052 cases, and a month earlier on 9/16, the average for the prior seven days was 1,339, the state website showed.
The trend speaks for itself and no doubt the COVID-19 case, death, hospitalization and related numbers are going to be ugly when the reporting resumes Tuesday.
Regardless, WI GOP Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald's congressional campaign twitter feed posted a photograph taken at a Washington County farmers market Saturday showing little social distancing and Fitzgerald interacting with a citizen - and neither of them were wearing masks.
Washington County is among those in Wisconsin counties with increasing burdensome COVID-19 caseloads.
