Wisconsin's positive Covid-19 caseload is up. As has been the pattern, no thanks to right-wing politicians who put partisanship above public health.
Imagine how many people are unaware that they are infected and can inadvertently spread it in supermarket aisles or at family gatherings or through a surprise sneeze while waiting for a crosswalk "walk" signal, as the NY Times has Wisconsin on this list:
What the testing is showing that while you can't see it (until it's too late), Covid-19 is out there - and maybe more so than you thought since you're feeling OK and none of your friends have gotten sick or died - so at least do the basics:
Socially distance yourself and wear a mask in public
to signal that 'we're all this together' is more than an ad slogan pitching cars and carryout.

Where new cases are increasingAnd if you're tempted to dismiss the data because 'testing is increasing,' don't be that blasé.

I am sure you were critical of the all the protesters in Madison and Milwaukee who were not social distancing or wearing a mask.
ReplyDeleteI live in a community that is very politically balanced between Democrats and Republicans. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the amount of people I’ve seen wearing masks in the grocery store, pharmacy, and hardware store (the only three stores I EVER go into anymore). Easily 8 out of 10 people are wearing them...male, female, black, white, young and old. While the conventional wisdom says you wear a mask to protect others from catching the virus from you, I’ll admit that the main reason I wear one is to protect myself. I have to think and hope that, if the virus is floating in the air around me, at least some of the particles will be caught by my trusty mask.
ReplyDeleteAs I have said, everyone out around other people should socially distance and wear masks. I fear that the marches and protest crowds will add to the positive caseload.
