The incredible shrinking Foxconn jobs numbers

Something of a consensus is emerging about jobs at the Racine County Foxconn site 

*  Let's begin with Walker's tweeted announcement

Foxconn is bringing 13,000 high-tech jobs to Wisconsin -- the biggest jobs announcement in our state’s history!

The numbers have been watered-down, spun, shuffled to 5,000, or 3,000, and recast as goals, not promises, but lately: 

* Foxconn booster and MMAC President Tim Sheehy laid the groundwork for being satisfied with 1,500 jobs.

* Now Gov. Evers is also saying 1,500 jobs, or thereabout.

So, what, a tenth of the jobs which Walker campaigned on and yammered about - - jobs that were to be "high-tech" to boot - - for more than a year?

11%? Be generous - - one-eighth?

Just how small a loaf are we to celebrate?

And beside all the political. b.s. that will take years to scrape away, did we really need to throw $250 million in precious road funding to expand I-94 in the Foxconn zone - - a highway that's become known as a death trap?
