I'd missed this great bit of reporting by the State Journal about the low-to-no-profile Foxconn and the UW-Madison have adopted about their much ballyhooed $100 million research partnership.
But now, radio silence, as the State Journal discovers - - and Bucky - - you're on a need-to-know basis, so don't plan on getting your pesky update questions answered until it's appropriate:
Six months after $100M partnership announcement, UW-Madison and Foxconn mum on detailsInteresting, isn't it: When Walker was looking for campaign coverage, Foxconn would show up at media events, help create news about real estate purchases and contract signings, fire up the bulldozers for TV camera operators and even help bring Donald Trump to Mount Pleasant for the ground-breaking.

"We don’t have new updates to share at this time,” university spokesman John Lucas said. “UW-Madison continues to be actively engaged with a variety of Foxconn groups and projects.”
Foxconn’s statement said: “Further updates will be provided in due course, as appropriate.”I'll add this short blog item to a Foxconn archive I've been updating since June, 2017.
No, this isn't a rendering of what Foxconn and UW-Madison may build together. This image is from a Foxconn video promoting what its Racine County development could look like. |
