I haven't see a flip like this since the snowboarding finals at the Sochi Winter Olympic games.
After bashing Obamacare at every turn, and repeatedly turning aside hundreds of millions of federal dollars to expand health coverage in Wisconsin, Walker now wants the feds and state taxpayers to fund a strengthening of Obamacare in Wisconsin with a fresh infusion of $200 million public dollars, The Journal Sentinel reports:
More than $678 million by the end of fiscal 2017.
So today can you say "election-year hypocrisy? And jitters?"
And Walker's conversion to Obamacare's importance comes on the heels of his belated embrace of Democratic - - and Governor, "it's "Democratic" when talking about the party, not your ignorant and snarky "Democrat"[Sic] - - calls to finally close the violence-wracked Lincoln Hills youth prison which the record shows Walker allowed to fester since 2012.
Walker's new appreciation of Democratic Party priorities also comes after many tweets and talking-point spin aimed at tricking potential 2018 voters into believing that local school funding he's returning in his current budget make districts whole after his historic first-budget's meat-axing (it doesn't).
Obviously rattled by the loss of a safe GOP State Senate seat in a Northwestern Wisconsin special election last week, and justifiably saddled with the unpopular, erratic, racist and misogynistic Trump whom Walker consistently supports after having spoken for him at the 2016 Republican National Convention, we await discovering what Democratic proposal or ideal Walker steals next to extend to 30 years his career politician one-dimensionality.

A fierce critic of Obamacare, Walker is set to use his eighth "state of the state" speech Wednesday to propose that the state "step up and lead" by strengthening the Affordable Care Act. As part of the broad health package, Walker also wants the Trump administration to permanently authorize SeniorCare, the prescription drug program that the governor once sought to scale back.As he said in 2012, on his official state website:
Today Governor Walker announced he will not pursue the implementation of a health insurance exchange and has turned down Early Innovator Grant funding from the federal government. The Governor also will repeal the executive order that created the Office of Free Market Health Care...
“Stopping the encroachment of ObamaCare in our state, which has the potential to have a devastating impact on Wisconsin’s economy, is a top priority."How much Obamacare-related federal health care money has Walker turned down before now looking for $200 million?
More than $678 million by the end of fiscal 2017.

This just makes me want to cry. All the pain, suffering, and loss of life he caused by not expanding medicaid under the ACA. What horrible, cynical person he is. I wonder how many deaths he is responsible for due to his reckless and politically motivated refusal to accept federal funds? A one time infusion of state money cannot make up for 7 years of cruelty and negligence.
ReplyDeleteWalker is LOSING AND ADMITTING FAILURE. Dems should repeat this ad nauseum and tell voters "you can't trust this guy."
ReplyDeleteJames- you hit it several years ago. Walker is "Hollow Man" and there is no moral core beyond "PAY ME AND KEEP ME IN POWER."
I think it is obvious that Gawd had a little talk with Walker and admitted it was wrong when it adviced Walker to allow suffering. It felt that people who make 150% the poverty rate should get insurance and that Walker should concentrate instead on harrassing the truly poor by drug testing and requiring work for medicaid. So sayeth the Lawd.
