If you believe in justice, the next 60 days are all about voter registration

The only thing that can stop the bad guys (and women judges) who would stand in the voting booth door are people of goodwill who will now put aside everything else and register every possible voter to throw out every last one of them bums.

The Federal Appeals Court's unsigned quickie approval today of Voter ID has to be the disrespecting, manipulating tipping point for Wisconsin voters.

  1. I guess Diane Sykes really wants that Supreme Court appointment Walker "promised" her.

  2. James, is this a done deal? Is there any recourse available? How could this happen if the election process has already started (i.e.,absentee ballots have already been sent out)?

  3. An appeal to the Supreme Court is possible. One report says that 11,000 absentee ballots have been cast and all those voters will have to be contacted to provide some sort of ID. That is just the beginning of the technical problems facing the electorate and county election officials..

  4. If the government were honest about getting citizens access to IDs to vote, they would offer more hours and streamlined processes at DMV. That would be because government would wish to enable citizens. I would hope that the situation at DMV as a voter registration drive ensues is well documented. I doubt that the present state government is in any way interested in enabling citizens. James, here is a specific question: if a student has a driver's license with a home address other than campus, is the state going to deny voting at the campus of residence?

  5. I do not know the answer. Clearly there are going to be thousands of provisional ballots cast, with plenty of efforts to get them validated, then challenged. Then recounted, In a close election -- chaos.

  6. Lori Compass is tweeting "the DMV in fort atkinson is open for THREE DAYS between now and the election, during work hours only. 8:30-4:15 on 9/25, 10/9, and 10/23."

  9. "Voter ID - which allows Mitt Romney (or fill in the name of any Republican candidate here) to win - done!"

  10. First of all election law changes should not take effect until two elections cycles have occurred giving the voters a chance to vote for or against those changing the laws.
2nd the judge stated that if the law prevents 2% of the white population from voting and 4.5% of the black population from voting that 2.5% difference does not constitute discrimination.BullSh*T. If you are more than twice as likely to be denied because of race that is discrimination and that is the intent of the law.
3rd and most importantly those percentages of the population work out to large numbers of people. I suspect to that they are very low estimates. However even if it only disenfranchised one individual that would be a violation of the Constitution.

  11. I would like to see county and municipal clerks who handle the elections band together and take a stand that the chaos and confusion this will create will disenfranchise so many voters as to make the elections invalid. These very same clerks were not in favor of reducing the days and hours of early voting and absentee ballot voting changes. If they are indeed in charge of elections they need to stand up for all voters so our voices can be heard. I see lawsuits coming and all kinds of vote counting errors and suspicions of corruption. DMV will in no way be able to handle this along with all the computer verification that will be required. What Walker wants Walker gets.....limit the ballots!
