Ron Johnson testified against the Child Victims Act during WI state Senate hearings in 2010. The Child Victims Act would have eliminated the statue of limitations for victims of child rape. The bill was opposed by the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and Milwaukee because several priests were being accused of assault by now grown victims. The Diocese, rather than address these allegations through the legal system, simply moved priest pedophiles around. One priest, Father Fenney was moved 14 times in 14 years (Justice David Prosser, at the time Outagamie district attorney was complicit in this). Ron Johnson and Anthony Blando (who was then head of the Catholic Schools in Oshkosh and now works for Johnson) both testified against the bill saying basically that if the Child Victims Act was passed, Catholic charities serving the poor would not have money to function due to lawsuits. As one victim said at the time, this is classic victim blaming and Ron Johnson delivered the message. What Johnson said (to paraphrase) is that if lawsuits were filed against the Catholic Diocese and programs for poor kids were discontinued, it would not be the churches fault but the fault of those seeking compensation for rape. This is the kind of person Senator Johnson is. He doesn't take sexual assault seriously.
C'mon. We can rest assured that Senator RoJo assessed the situation and determined for himself that this was not sexual assault or a crime. RoJo has only to refer to the GOP Ten Reasons It's Not Ever a Sexual Assault: 1) It was at a bar or in the parking lot of one, or 2) she was wearing a short skirt, or 3) they both had been drinking, or 4) there was no penetration, or 5) she knew Bill Kramer, or 6) boys will be boys, or 7) Bill Kramer "knew" she really wanted it, or 8) they are both Republicans, or 9) she said "no" less than 10 times, or 10) RoJo's Top Secret Office Policies don't recognize sexual assault as a crime.

ReplyDeleteIf this was an aide (staff member) for Senator RoJo. Isn't it a federal crime? Will DOJ or the FBI investigate?
