Walker supports wetlands' filling, massive open-pit mining in the Bad River watershed and closing Planned Parenthood health-care clinics serving rural women through
funding cuts and
restrictive legislation, but left the
Lakeland Times and local residents with this double-talk:
Monday, the governor made four stops across the state — including Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander — to focus on the health care aspects of his plan. Addressing a small gathering of Ministry Medical Group employees Monday, Walker said his budget plan will help with an ongoing issue rural medical facilities like Saint Mary’s Hospital are facing — attracting and retaining quality health professionals.....
“It takes a little nudge, but when they get here they love it,” Walker said in talking about the Northwoods and other areas of Wisconsin’s less densely populated north. He referred to the focus his office has put into spurring tourism in those areas in the past two years.
Funny thing. Rep. Paul Ryan's family business will directly benefit from any wetland mitigation. He's in on it.
ReplyDeleteThe Lakeland Times has been Walker's biggest cheerleader. They have never printed any "real" news about him, and in many cases, make up the "good" news as they go along. All the while bashing teachers, public workers, unions, big spending Democrats, women, and now the tribes. Of course Greg "Walker" (the owner of the Lakeland Times) inherited the paper and then bought the Rhinelander Daily News. Who knows if they are related, but the LT sure gets the exclusive interviews with Scooter. They spin the man better than Fox News ever thought of and the Northern Tea Baggers suck it up.
ReplyDeleteI do not think they are related.
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight..Walker thinks that health professionals will relocate to the Northwoods when they see it while vacationing? That doesn't really sound like a well thought out business plan for the experienced doctor with an established practice.
ReplyDeleteA gentle nudge? Like taking a walk to the edge of the open pit mine. That should do it. Eh.
ReplyDeleteThey like it once they get here? Maybe if you pay for their medical loans and give more training in mining related diseases.
