Depressing.
A vote for bad health and bad taste in more ways than one.
If Paula Deen were black and said things similar to, say, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the poll would be 99-1 in favor of cancellation.

ReplyDeleteIn the interest of fairness, the Journal should do a poll on a variety of racial epithets. I have a hunch that Kraut, Bohunk and Polock would have high rates of disapproval.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't agree that accepting someone for past actions is equivalent to racism. If she was raised in an environment where the n-word was completely acceptable, it can and does take time to change those attitudes.
ReplyDeleteNow if the poll asked questions about her using the term on the air today, that would be a different story.
There are only two or three cases in which this was not true, so just believe it.
