If
John Lehman's unofficial numbers in Racine hold up, and Democrats recapture the State Senate, the brakes can be applied to some of the excesses that Walker and the Fitzgeralds pushed through in the last 15 months.
Former state Sen. John Lehman, D-Racine led state incumbent
Republican Sen. Van Wanggaard, with 36,255 votes to Wanggaard's 35,476
votes, according to unofficial results with all precincts reporting.
Three
Republicans won state Senate races Tuesday in Wisconsin, but with
Lehman winning Racine County, the Democrats will take control of the
Senate and gain the 17-16 majority.
Lehman declared victory shortly before 1 a.m.
While the Waangard loss (if it holds) will be disappointing, it really doesn't matter much long term. The reason is that not much will be done in the fall session, and then Republicans will regain control in the November elections with control of about 19-20 seats.

@ Reagan's Disciple: We'll take whatever respite from the Mississippification of Wisconsin we can get.
ReplyDeleteI expect to be hearing much more Wisconsin accented banter in bars in New England in the next decade in the coming years.
ReplyDelete@ Paul Berge: You talk as though Mississippi is a failure of some sort, but they have a $300 million surplus this year while cutting $200 million in federal funding. A much more fiscally sound model than that of Wisconsin, don't ya think, Sporto! Why don't you think beyond stereotypes because the majority of Southern states are doing what the northern can't, think for themselves and live within their means.
