President Obama gave one of the most impassioned speeches of his presidency when he addressed a joint session of Congress on Thursday night. Too bad so many in the audience thought it was a big, fat joke
“You should pass this jobs plan right away!” Obama exhorted. Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) chuckled.
"Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than his secretary — an outrage he has asked us to fix,” Obama went on.
Widespread laughter broke out on the GOP side of the aisle.Ryan considers himself a national figure, pundits have anointed him as really smart, perhaps Presidential, and he's responded with all due humility that he won't run for President, but is available to be considered for Vice-President.
“This isn’t political grandstanding,” Obama said. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) guffawed.
“This isn’t class warfare,” Obama said. More hysterics on the right.
Snickering openly during a Presidential address to a Joint Session of Congress?
Who cares if reporters see it?
What an arrogance there is to that juvenile behavior.
What a double-standard for someone holding himself out as suitable for national office.
And what bad PR for Wisconsin.
Raging hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteAlmost as immature as a President chastising members of the US Supreme Court during a State of the Union address isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIf Obama wants decorum, then perhaps he should lead by example. Then again, the next time Obama leads anything would be the first.
Conflation and response by comparison is really a weak comeback.
ReplyDeleteLaughing during a President's speech is inexcusable. The Supreme court was rightly chastised for an incredibly partisan ruling. My God! Their ruling was unconscionable.
ReplyDeleteRowen you are such a hypocrite. Did you call out your Messiah Obama when he invites Ryan to a speech and then blasts him in the speech? Did you show outrage when Obama blasts the Supreme Court during the State of the Union speech?
ReplyDeleteYour blog used to be very informative and I would visit it to get some good analysis on the lefts point of view. Now it is just a blog of vile hatred of anything Republican and especially Scott Walker.
So it goes.
ReplyDeleteBetween this and the tasteless joke about a 71-year-old constituent needing blood pressure medication, it proves the "nice guy" image from Ryan was nothing but a lie. Not surprising that the bad character comes out when he is tested- weaklings always crack like that.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, what do you expect from someone who's never had a real job and has worked in the D.C. bubble his whole career?
