A forum, news site and archive begun in February, 2007 about politics and the environment in Wisconsin. And elsewhere.
I received my card challenging my registration last year and returned it in person to the city clerk. They said it would be taken care of. I checked my status on-line a couple of weeks ago and found I was not registered. I went back to the clerk's office and they indicated to me that I had been bounced a second time with no reason given. They have apparently fixed it now since the on-line site says I'm registered. At least for now. It appears that the powers that be may be taking the tack of just bouncing people repeatedly because who would think that you need to check it constantly when you have not moved etc. in years.
ReplyDeleteI was at the last Elections Commission meeting in Madison. They all acknowledge that the last mailing was improperly done and many many thousands were removed improperly from rolls. As a result, they gave registrars the ability to reregistar people. Of course, the most people stricken were from Democratic strongholds lead by Milwaukee (more than 53,000).
ReplyDeleteWhile good there is action, this is just more voter suppression and the root cause of this attempt to strip eligible voters of there rights is still not being addressed.
Laughably, Scott Walker's BFF Kathleen Nicholson was there and gave sham testimony about bogus concerns - you may remember she used to steal elections by reporting late results with impossible numbers to offset Milwaukee. And when audited, lots of open bags of uncounted repug ballots turn up.
But the bigger point is this: They steal elections by gerrymandering the state and stripping registered voters of their right to cast ballots. This alone, however, is not necessarily enough to steal elections (though it may be in some cases).
What all this does do is enable the unverifiable proprietary voting systems to finish the job. To go undetected, no more and preferably less than 3% of votes need to be flipped. This swings a 2-party election 6%. It is impossible to catch that in an audit as they system is closed. Voter ID, gerrymandering, and the voter purges are extremely effective because if the margin is 6% or less, it is then possible to steal with impunity.
