Walker watchers: Remind you of anyone else?
Dukakis paid a heavy price for this image, so what about Walker's choice? Just asking. Also: commenters are making a good point about which I'd written, so thanks for the reminder of his Achilles heel.
For most of his career, Scott Walker has gotten away with dressing up like one of the Village People and riding around on a Harley, pretending to be a biker. No visual image is more ridiculous than that.
You know what IS sinking him, though? Look at the actual words on the screen next to him. This ad isn’t bragging about the Foxconn deal, it’s DEFENDING it: “They have to earn their tax credits! I swear!”
Sure, a few folks may chuckle at the silly hard hat and vest (which make him look like another one of the Village People, by the way), but it’s really their anger over Foxconn that spells doom for this governor.
This is a great point. The fact that Scotty has to do this ad and try to convince people the Fox-con is a good deal is a "tell" that HE IS LOSING ON THE ISSUE.
Much like how this one-time stunt of dumping per-pupil aid into K-12 schools ahead of the election is an admission that Act 10 and cutting $$$ to public schools while adding tens of millions to vouchers HAS FAILED as an education policy.
