Write to WI GOP Sen. Johnson, get back a fake response

I know a person who took the time to write a specific, detailed, researched communication to Johnson
Ron Johnson, official portrait, 112th Congress.jpg
that urged him to oppose Donald Trump's nomination of Betty Devos as Secretary of Education and got back this generic, unresponsive and ultimately insulting response:
----------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting me.

Your views are important to me. I review and carefully consider constituent input and feedback as the Senate discusses, debates, and votes on issues.

My objective is to identify, define, and prioritize problems that put America at risk, stifle economic activity, or result in ineffective and inefficient government and then find solutions to those problems. Your input helps me do my job more effectively.

Thank you again for contacting my office. It is very helpful to hear the views of the people I serve. To date, my office has received more than 2,000,000 letters, emails and phone calls. My mission is to provide information to as many people as possible concerning the enormous financial and cultural challenges facing America.

Please see my website at www.ronjohnson.senate.gov for additional information. It is an honor representing you and all the people of Wisconsin.

Sincerely,

Ron Johnson
United States Senator

  3. To be fair, I once wrote to Sen. Proxmire from UW-Madison about Vietnam and his reply read, "I couldn't agree with you more." Someone else got the same response on another issue. These form letters may be more common then we'd like to think. Then again, I continue to believe that the engraved, signed birthday message I got from Ike 56 years ago contained his own words.

  4. Me too!! Same letter you get anytime you correspond with Johnson. He can't be bothered with the little people. He has bigger fish to fry with corporations, the only constituents he's interested in helping. To help them, he helps himself.

  5. I despise the guy, but sometimes he(his aides) does directly reply to your concern. Example:

"Thank you for contacting me regarding trade policy.

I support free and fair trade. I believe that for our economy in Wisconsin and America to grow and to support and create high-paying jobs for the American people in the 21st century, we must pursue free and fair trade negotiations. I will not support unfair trade deals designed to vanquish entire American industries.

We live in a global economy. We do not have the luxury of deciding whether or not we wish to compete. We must compete — and America can win that competition. I have a great deal of confidence in American workers, in their ingenuity, and in our ability to successfully compete with anyone in the world. America contains 5% of the world's population, yet we are responsible for more than 20% of the world's total economy. I will support free and fair trade deals that strengthen our economy and provide expanding opportunity."

Unfortunately, I did not save my email to him, so cannot provide context for the reply.
