Now our idiot governor wants everyone to believe that the 100,000 jobs listed on the Wisconsin Job Center website are great jobs with good wages but the problem is people don't have the skills to fill these jobs. Walker seems to have forgotten that he cut tech school funding, the very schools that develop employment specific skills. Secondly if these jobs paid family supporting wages and beyond there would be an influx of people from out of the state to fill these great jobs. Wisconsin is experiencing out-migration not in-migration. Finally why haven't Walker and his Republican legislators put together a significant job skills training program that would give Wisconsinites the skills needed to fill these 100,000 job openings? The answer probably is that these are crap jobs that don't pay enough rather than skilled jobs. If there were jobs desperately needing to be filled manufacturers would be doing their own training to enhance their profits. Walker and friends are too busy producing cowardly legislation that protects their backsides to have time to work for the people of Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the gap is between low and high income. I am not discounting the racial gap, that is obviously real, I just think we are failing poor kids too.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely connected. And given that the state also has some of the worst gaps in incomes across the races, it sadly isn't surprising that there are educational outcome gaps
DeleteNotice how JS did not enable comments for the article. They must know the torrent of racist hate is ready to burst. And to the above poster, the skills gap is a lie. The business community that "cannot" fill jobs are not paying proper wages. If you can't find help for your own business, that means you are a terrible business person. More blaming the victim as it were.
ReplyDeleteCorrect on the false meme of "skills gap". Wisconsin pays the second-lowest manufacturing wage in the Midwest, and the GOPs in power keep passing laws to try to make those, wages even.lower.
DeleteThen.these dopes wonder why no one wants to work.that job for $14 an hour. For a bunch of "free-market" types, they sure aren't responding to the clues of supply and demand.
So what? Cut education more. What's the difference if the state is overrun with stoooopid people. Heck, they already vote for this crap. We might as well cut education even more if people just choose to be dumb.
ReplyDeleteWisconsin is a beautiful state. Too bad it has so many stupid people.
