Abolishing the long-time, non-partisan state auditing agency that discovered many of the flaws and failings which are costing state taxpayers millions of lost dollars at the Scott Walker-created-and-chaired jobs agency - - the WEDC - - would be like firing the team of doctors and lab technicians who found your cancerous tumors because you didn't like the diagnosis.
It's not dumb to them. They would give Walker the sole authority to appoint the inspectors general and he would hand pick people he could control who would give him the results he wants to see.
ReplyDeleteBut, there are no words to describe how bad it would be for the state and taxpayers of Wisconsin. Corruption would run rampant in the Capitol. Not that it already doesn't, but this would make it much worse.
If this happens we'll have to learn the phrase Laissez les bons temps rouler! Because we'll just be a bunch northern parishes of Lousianna
ReplyDeleteThis must be another one of those 'BOLD" ideas that end up screwing the people of Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteTurning Wisconsin into another Messissippi! (Capital Jackustan.)
ReplyDeleteNot Mississippi. Think something for more repressive and sinister.
ReplyDeleteWhen you're removing all checks, balances and truth-telling, you don't have a democracy any more. When's that "Katrina moment" for this administration, when there's a critical mass that finally says "ENOUGH, YOURE DONE!"
The only thing we got left is hope. Hope the state Supreme Court doesn't let this schmuck off the hook, but we - I - should know better. The court has been paid for. There is no chance for truth and justice in our beloved state.
ReplyDeleteIn Wisconsin, democracy has been lost. The puppet king has won. It is his democracy: of his people, for his people, and by his people.
Here in our beloved United States it takes money to buy real freedom. Money for his people. Peanuts for the rest of us.
I got my B.S. at UW-Madison in Economics and I believe in the ideals of entrepreneurship and free markets as much as anybody but… Conservatives and those who believe in Capitalism without limits are misleading the public that somehow Socialism has to be avoided at all cost. Let’s get one thing straight- irresponsible Corporate 'persons' are practicing parasitic, nefarious and pathological Socialism. They privatize monetary wealth for CEOs and a few share-owners while simultaneously they socialize the burdens of air, water and land pollution and transfer to the public the human costs of poverty level wages. Then they buy off politicians to dodge rightfully assessed real estate and income taxes, again avoiding any social responsibility. Then they stand in front of crowds of unemployed people desperate for jobs of any kind and tell them that higher taxes to support health care for all and food stamps equals Socialism. Greedy corporate ‘persons’ and their purchased political mouthpieces denigrate Socialism for the well being of humans as as an evil without equal, while Socialism in the form of unrestrained capitalism is destroying our planet and extorting our people.
