I was happy to see that Gov. Walker at his Monday swearing-in swore to uphold the state and US constitutions but went out of his way to cite the Wisconsin Constitution's wisdom and relevance.
Would that he'd defend and not undermine for partisan or personal purposes these sections:
* Article IX, The Public Trust Doctrine.
This is the guarantee to all Wisconsin citizens of access to and enjoyment of all the waters of the state - - and which is being thrown away through weak pollution enforcement, capitulation to donor-developers and new laws sought and signed by Walker to let a coal-mining company fill wetlands and streams to mine deeply inaccessible deposits of iron ore for miles across the Bad River watershed.
* Article III, (note the absence of the words "voter" and "ID.") Section 1.
Every United States citizen age 18 or older who is a resident of an election district in this state is a qualified elector of that district.
* Article VII, Section 2.
The justice having been longest a continuous member of said court, or in case 2 or more such justices shall have served for the same length of time, the justice whose term first expires, shall be the chief justice.
The GOP aims to remove the sitting, unbeatable and duly-elected chief justice on the bogus and undemocratic basis of age.
