Earlier this year, The Road to Sprawlville - - our continuing series about the loss of land and wetlands to development and road-building in Wisconsin - - was about to run dangerously close to Dane County's Lake Waubesa in the City of Fitchburg.
But grassroots organizing there - - perhaps further energized by Scott Walker's reckless environmental record - - has produced official planning commission opposition that could end up leaving the watershed more intact.
Not yet a final outcome, but a very good step in the right direction.
And props to the activist citizens in the area who would not give up. We need more of you out there.
