Substance, Not Greeting Cards, Needed From WI DNR

Suggestion to the WI DNR on its emailed weekly pitch for agency credibility:

Make this Facebook-style little posting into real policy when it comes to the proposed golf course in a Lake Michigan nature preserve and demanding state park acreage, the damaging test drillings in advance of 35 years of open pit mining proposed in the Bad River watershed, and the green-lighting of scores of enormous, polluting frac sand mines and mega-dairies trashing water quality and rural life across the state - - all in your purview today - - and then you'll be taken seriously.

Right now, this is little more than an April Fool's Day greeting card.

Clean Air Tip of the Week For the week of August 3, 2014: "At the Department of Natural Resources, we welcome collaboration with other programs and agencies. One example is the Little Rock Lake experiment. Thirty years ago, a barrier was installed to cut the northern Wisconsin lake virtually in two.Experiments were conducted on one half of the lake while the other half was left untouched. Scientists from DNR and the University of Wisconsin studied the effects of acid deposition (a result of poor air quality) on the health of the fish in the lake.
