Lawrence O'Donnell's Extraordinary Post-Injury Return To MSNBC

The MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell was seriously injured in April when the taxi he was riding in was hit head-on by a drunk driver in another country and far from emergency medicine and surgeons.

O'Donnell was back on the air last night after 75 days of recuperation and rehab, and talked at length about this life-altering experience. For reasons that will become obvious, I highly recommend taking the time to watch the video.

Television gives us but a two-dimensional view of people on the screen. Last night's program was the exception.

  1. His opening theme was that news anchors don't cry, and used film of Walter Cronkite announcing JFK's death to illustrate. But I remember Dan Rather breaking down when he was on Letterman right after 9/11.
