As Science Saves Lives During Storm Events...

And I'm watching precise predictions, color weather radar and text alerts direct people to their basements in Waukesha County, for example, I'm wondering how many people in that conservative stronghold also dismiss the science and technology which is warning about a warming environment and climate change?

I know the difference between changing weather and changing climate - - and I also acknowledge the interactions - - but dismissing the value of climate science, or science and facts in general as conservatives often do (our Kenyan President, death panels, evolution, WMD, epidemic obesity and women's biology), is like taking a daily Lipitor with your morning cheeseburger.

  2. I think most people here in Waukesha County do "believe" there is some sort of climate change occurring. But as Al Gore told us in "An Inconvenient Truth", a man will deny the truth if it interferes with his ability to make a living . . . . or in the case of the Koch Bros: an obscene profit from fossil fuels.

Denial of the science is just their way of achieving it.

Of course, you are correct in that there are many ignorant kooks who don't "believe." But they are sprinkled throughout the state.

  3. The most entertaining moment of the morning--the "highlight" if you will--was the young reporter (didn't bother to check the channel--they're all the same anyway)standing in the rain and telling us that "puddles are forming". Cue to a close-up of her boots. And then being warned by the same chirpy idiot to wear rain gear if we're must venture forth. No wonder we're all numb and dumb, being fed this sappy crap day and night. Jeezus!
