During the course of their opposition to the new plan, the citizens group stumbled upon comments written in 2012 by Traci Gengler, who they identify as a DOT project manager, saying that while the opposition group has environmental concerns, "Gov. Walker is de-regulating environment. So now is the time to build four lanes and create jobs."

WI Highway 164/J Report Contains Smoking Gun
I've been following the environmental, fiscal and legal Wisconsin thicket known as the State Highway 164/J project for years - - a recent summary is here - - but Capital Times Editor Emeritus and longtime road-builder watchdog Dave Zweifel has an excellent column today about a citizen opposition to highway that includes an eye-opening disclosure:
Destroying the environment for jobs seems to have worked about as well as giving tax cuts to the wealthy for jobs. Which is to say, not at all.
ReplyDeleteSo, next "brilliant" job creation idea from the bankrupt GOP brain trust?
Hwy J Citizen's Group noted that Traci Gengler's comment was submitted as if she were a citizen making comments to the public hearing. Also, her comment was followed by the smiley face-- : ) !
ReplyDeleteAll while she was a DOT "Project Manager". Shortly after her pretend citizen, smiley-faced comment was submitted, she was named as THE
"Project Manager" for the Hwy 164 expansion. Apparently she attended the Darlene Wink School of Public Foolery.
