National Transit Revival Derailed In WI By Walker, Vos

Big national story about revived interest in transit.

Will media here produce the companion story about Scott Walker's rejection of the Amtrak extension from Milwaukee to Madison, Assembly GOP Speaker Robin Vos' servitude to Walker by legislatively killing the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter train and regional transit authorities statewide, and obstructing Milwaukee's streetcar vision?

Not to mention to Walker-Vos shutdown of the Amtrak train manufacturing factory in a low-income Milwaukee neighborhood, to boot?

History, links here.

  1. And the transit mode with the biggest increases? Light and heavy RAIlL. If it's available and relatively convenient, people use it.

Think it's a coincidence that Wisconsin is falling behind the rest of the country when you have a governor who cut nearly $12 million in aid to transit in 2011, and hasn't restored it, while hamstringing the ability for local communities to pay for transit EVEN IF THEY WANT IT?

Do you wonder why progressive states like Minnesota kick our ass in attracting talent to build a better economy?

  2. We won't need trains - no one is going to locate a business or manufacturing plant in a state that broke a contract with international train manufacturer Talgo. If legal contracts signed by a governor are broken when after an election, there is no certainty. Oh and just a reminder, Talgo is suing the state and Scott Walker for $130 million.

  4. Sometimes I think that is the whole purpose of his administration - to line the pockets of the lawyers at Michael, Best and co.
