Wisconsin Republicans used to lambaste Democrats as The Big Government Party. It was the GOP's most reflexive talking point.
Trust the people and their local decision-makers, not Madison power-brokers.
How things have changed, as the power-grabbing GOP triumvirate of Scott Walker, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos are moving towards, or have already restricted or pre-empted local ordinances, permissions or practices covering minimum wages, voting hours, same day voter registration, sand and iron mining operations, streetcar planning, regional transit plans, public employee residency, commuter train development, groundwater withdrawals, Ojibwe treaty rights, northern Wisconsin forest access, public employee labor contracts, and more.
They could continue this right-wing push to one-party, corporately-controlled rule through the 2021 redistricting.
