Who's Turning Cartwheels Over Chris Christie's Stupid Bridge Work

Christie's retributive, self-inflicted wound helps Scott Walker, if this assessment is accurate, so puts the 2014 Wisconsin gubernatorial election and the need to stop Walker right here in sharp focus:
If you are a Republican and you like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, then you probably already have your candidate for the 2016 presidential campaign. If you do not like Christie, then your candidate for 2016 is Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

  1. I agree about Walker checking the most boxes. I can see that. I also read that Kasich, who as noted took the federal Obamacare money, is getting challenged from the right in Ohio. And the Iowa GOP does like evangelicals.

But I disagree completely that Walker was targeted by "the full force of the Democratic machine." For one thing, Obama -- and his people -- did not support the recall effort. And the recall race was, unfortunately, also an unusual re-match with Milwaukee Mayor Barrett. That is a pretty big asterisk, I think. I disagree with Dickerson that Walker's cool temperament is a liability since it plays well on TV -- at least when he is in a TV studio. And I also disagree that Walker picked a good title for his book. Rather defensive, isn't it? (George Lakoff would have something to say about that, I think.)

Continuing my two cents worth, I believe the calendar in 2016 will favor an early selection of the nominee, for whatever that is worth. That might favor the relatively unknown Walker. Already there are plans to move the conventions up, so that they do not compete with the Summer Olympics in August.

But what about Paul Ryan? I know he is not a governor, but isn't he out-polling Walker in Iowa, and by a large margin? Does Dickerson really expect Ryan to sit this race out?

  2. Walker will more likely be in prison than be a viable candidate by Feb 2015. The media can find plenty of examples of Christie-like ratf*cking if they ever choose to dig into Walker's background.

In fact, now would be a good time to remind people of that, wouldn't it?

  3. walker, like christie, had improper and/or illegal activity conducted by staffers right under his nose,or was directly aware of it. In walker's case he enabled the crimes of tim russell by assigning him to a veterans program money when russell had already been fired from a state job for theft through use of a gov credit card. If the press does its job, walker will not benefit much from this.

  4. The Walker people are just as vindictive as the Christie people, maybe more so.

  5. Using the recall petition list against Wisconsin citizens is a very up-front bullying tactic used by Walker and his people. There is no doubt that Walker has been on-board with that type of citizen intimidation since the list was first collected. Christie has nothing over Walker when it comes to low-blow, slimy politics.
