An early tip of the hat to the first responders, bus drivers, water service and other public employees who are and will be out in the cold saving lives, aiding the homeless and keeping basic services running.
Thumbs down to political opportunists who denigrated and scapegoated public employees.
My husband municipality worker fir wi city and out right now fixing water main break. Yeah, those city employees get all the benefits. Currently -20 outside. Some benefit.
ReplyDeleteThanks to your suggestion I did this, yesterday, to a postal worker delivering mail to a business I was exiting. I didn't catch my own postal delivery worker--and I wasn't going to sit in the snowbank and wait for him! Sorry, you'll have to read this blog to know how much I appreciate you!

ReplyDeleteThey ARE the champs. Not only do they do their jobs in the bitter cold, but in humidity so thick you can push against it, swarms of mosquitoes and cold downpours, too.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the wonderful volunteers checking on the homeless and advocating for expanded shelter hours; they are saving lives.
