Hard to pick among today's low lights:
* Belling show fill-in Jerry Bott on AM 1130 WISN complained about the "socialism," "creeping socialism" and "socialist ideology" of Obamacare - - ignoring that Obamacare is driving hundreds of thousands of customers to private insurers.
* Then there was AM 620 WTMJ second banana Jeff Wagner griping that "big government" was preventing him from buying incandescent light bulbs he wanted. Even though he breathes cleaner air now that demand for more coal-fired power falls with every LED or compact fluorescent bulb that is installed.
You have no more right to burn excess coal and pollute the air than you do burning leaves or leaded gasoline.
* But Wagner wins dimmest bulb of the day for his wisecrack "thank you, Al Gore, for inventing the Internet" inserted in the middle of his discussion about what his station had been calling "breaking news" - - the arrest of a would-be airport terrorist in Wichita, Kansas who got suicide bomb plans off the Internet.
Journal Communications has invested millions in its right-wing noise machine, and this is the best it came up with?
No mention of Icki saying on Twitter this week that she would SHOOT PEOPLE?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it's time for action against these stations for not holding these hateful liars accountable. There is no public interest in having those people go on the air unchallenged.
BTW, a friend of mine lives in Menomonee Falls, WI. I visited him in mid-November only to smell leaves burning. Seems that is what they do down there--no organized leaf collection, and burn only. Maybe a few households compost, I s'pose.
ReplyDeleteYes - - with a permit. Here are the rules - - http://www.menomonee-falls.org/index.aspx?NID=253
ReplyDeleteWhat does TMJ stand for? Too Much Jeff (Wagner)! What does WTMJ stand for? Way Too Much Jeff!.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? What a misguided dig at Al Gore and the Internet! Jeff should be very embarrassed and ashamed of himself.
It's hard to believe that Wagner was once a Federal prosecutor. This doesn't enhance my faith in the American justice system one bit. Apparently it's a job that any politically connected fool can do.
