Gratitude For JFK Leadership On Nuclear Arms Control, Detente

People of my generation who lost a beloved leader on November 22, 1963 can work their way through the grief today by remembering President John F. Kennedy's achievements, and none was more important than the nuclear test ban negotiated successfully the year he died.

In those days, atmospheric nuclear bomb testing that released Cold War threats and radioactive pollution was an almost everyday event around the world, as this stunning video recounts.

The arms control work pushed by JFK led to so much cooperation with the Russians that their surplus weapons have been recycled into fuel for American power plants. Think about that.
