I hope somewhere in Wisconsin there is at least one teacher of American literature or state history who will assign the stories about this bear hunt and pair it with William Faulkner's short story, "The Bear," where another bear hunt is recorded.
Let's just say Faulkner's observations about people and wildlife and the land extend past the Mississippi border and he didn't win two Pulitzer Prizes, the National Book Award and the Nobel Prize in Literature for nothing.
