American Shame: NRA Client Senators Save Gun Selling Loopholes

Contributions were victorious over children.

Political and partisan power prevailed over people's lives.

Fabricated fears of government and gun confiscation won out over the freedom to avoid being shot.

Despite a majority in support, the Senate with the support of Wisconsin's Ron Johnson caved to the gun lobby.

Every gun death from now on through weapons obtained via gun show, Internet or private, background check-free sales' loopholes can be laid at the feet of these NRA clients.

  1. I think Senator Johnson did the right thing.
Yhe bill wasn't going to do anything but make people "feel" good.

  2. RonJon bent over for the Fear-Peddling Death Merchants. As expected, and as he was required by his Owner's Purchase Agreement.

I agree with old Nonnie Mouse there, though, that the proposed legislation was far too weak and needed to be strengthened beyond the "feel good" level. So it's time to try again.

The Senate can't ignore the will of over 80% of America forever.

  3. You are crazy if you think 80% of the people are on your side on this issue. And please save yourself the embarrassment of linking to some irrelevant leftist poll that shows...

  4. if you can't get support for weak legislation, how in the world do you think you will get stronger legislation passed?

Especially when Reid wants nothing to do with it.

I suggest you hang "no weapons" signs everywhere you go. You will certainly be much safer.

  5. The only Internet sales that can be done without a background check are private sales.

If you purchase a gun online from a dealer or website and/or need an FFL transfer, you will get a background check.

  6. LOL. Don't worry, RD, you have demonstrated quite well that reality has no bearing on your ideas.

    For everyone else, though:

CNN can hardly be called irrelevant OR leftist. Here's the money quote:

" That includes a CNN/ORC International survey released last week that indicated 86% of the public supports some form of background checks that are not currently required by law for gun sales. And 86% of Americans questioned in an ABC News/Washington Post poll released Tuesday said they supported background checks for gun sales on the internet and at gun shows. "

  7. 86% of the public supports some form of background checks that are not currently required by law for gun sales

What a vague and meaningless question. If I support background checks for people who have mental diseases,am I in the 86%? Someone supports background checks for middle eastern men age 18-45 only. Are they now in the 86%. Those laws aren't on the books right now.

Oh, and here are the results from a recent (4/19) AP poll that show Obama doesn't even have 50% on the bill.

    http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/item/15151-ap-poll-shows-healthy-opposition-to-obama-gun-control-scheme

Here from Politico, it shows Obama has only 45% support on gun issues.

And the funniest comment of the month award goes to... CNN can hardly be called irrelevant OR leftist. Okay...

    Your move, Mr. Reality.

  8. Obama's standing or the Senate breakdown has no relevance toward the statement I made.

Nice work on the goalposts. Do you have them fitted with casters or skids to help them slide around so easily?

Seriously, this is what passes for argument on your planet? Are you seriously trying to use the threadbare "Lieberal MSMS" dodge in relation to CNN? Liberal compared to Charlie Sykes, maybe.

  9. Seriously, you're a hoot, Mr. Disciple. Don't ever change....

  10. The poll you cite doesn't matter. Like every other poll, you can make it come out with the results you are looking for if you ask the questions the right way.

To prove the point, I cited the AP poll that shows Obama under water on the gun issue.

So which is it? Do people want gun control as in your poll, or do they side with me and the AP poll. One thing I know for sure is that 86% of people don't agree on any issue relating to guns.

There are no moving goalposts, just pointing out your inability to decipher and comprehend poll numbers and questions.

  11. If we posted a sign on the entrance to this blog saying No RayGuns would we be safer from your factless pronouncements and illogical conclusions?

  12. To prove the point, I cited the AP poll that shows Obama under water on the gun issue.

Umm, one of those polls measured public support of the issue, the other measured public support of Obama. This may come as a surprise, but those are not the same things. Mainly because, when it comes to measuring Obama's handling of the issue, a fair number of people express disappointment because he has been TOO CONSERVATIVE.

One of us doesn't understand, but it isn't the zombie....

Heh. Like I said, never change.

  13. The poll you cite doesn't matter.

Then why does the poll you cite matter?

Do you recognize that you shot your own argument down? How much does it hurt when you footbullet?

    Don't go changin, Mr. Disciple.
