Our son Matt telling the GOTV crowd in Sioux Falls, SD, tonight that when elected to the state Public Utilities Commission he will represent farmers and everyday rate-paying consumers, and get rid of big utility expenses like a private jet and other high-end perks that are folded into the rates.
He did not take donations from lobbyists or people working in the regulated industries: his opponent, a commissioner by appointment, sat on the board of the XCEL Corp., the state's largest utility.
To Matt's left in the photo: US Sen. Tim Johnson, (D), and Matt Varilek, Democratic candidate for the US House of Representatives. He is running against a First-term Tea Partier.
Let us know how he does. Congratulations for running.
