Waukesha Council To Hear Water Deal Plan Tuesday

The Waukesha Water Utility will disclose more information at a Common Council meeting Tuesday night about a potential Lake Michigan water deal with Racine, Oak Creek or both.

The meeting is at Waukesha City Hall at 7:30 p.m., and the water utility commission will meet in closed session prior to the Council meeting.

I doubt if the utility will entertain questions Tuesday about a local alternative's fresh scientific information.

Earlier this year, Waukesha chose not to negotiate with the City of Milwaukee because Milwaukee does not to want to supply water to four smaller communities near Waukesha included in Waukesha's Lake Michigan diversion application.

A Milwaukee purchase was estimated to cost $164 million; plans having Racine and Oak Creek as the supplier have been estimated significantly more expensive.
