Rep. John Lewis Raised The Voter Suppression Issue
As uplifting as was the speech by a veteran of the Civil Rights movement, how embarrassing was it to hear him name "Wisconsin" as one of the states where Republicans are working to use state power to keep people from voting?
Exactly right. He experienced the hard consequences of the very things ALEC is currently trying to make the norm in states like Wisconsin. Voting is a right--one vote per person, not 3/5, not 1/2, not zero. The unfortunate part for Republicans is that that there's so many more voters that doesn't think the way the GOP does.
That guy is an American hero. He fought for civil rights at the end of a baseball bat--he wasn't the one swinging the bat.
