As I suggested the other day, there's already a pending bill ready to get the ball rolling:
Rep. Jon Richards, D-Milwaukee, and Rep. Gary Hebl, D-Sun Prairie, announced Monday that they're drafting the Legal Defense Fund Transparency Act.
"We as citizens of this state have the right to know who's paying for the legal fees and to make sure that those donors are fully aware of that fund being transferred from the campaign fund to the legal defense fund," Hebl said.
The legislation would require any official who receives a donation to a legal defense fund to name the donor and the amount within seven days.
It really is the perfect bill. I saw your headline and thought this might be snark -- but it isn't.
ReplyDeleteBut it ain't gonna happen, is it?
So much for the civility and compromise, hey?
ReplyDeletewhat's uncivil about this?
ReplyDeleteAs the authoritarians are fond of saying, if Walker has nothing to hide, he has nothing to fear, right?
RD, your guys lost their claim on civility when they chose Racine for their hearing on the mining bill. Start acting in good faith if you want to regain the standing to complain about civility.
